Chris Wesselman, my good friend at Stanford MIS went to MacWorld Expo at Mocone in San Francisco yesterday. This is what he told me:
1) They should rename it iWorld. I disagree… MacWorld expo is a 28 year old brand. iworld is something that is either inside macworld or separate trade show. IMHO.
2) Jeff ganyard and Jeff Leman are now at Dragon after Macspeech acquired. Talked to Jack Simonton and he is no longer at MacSpeech.
3) Our friend Tim Holms is doing well.
4) 266 vendors but much smaller than the MacWorlds of the 1990s
Top 5 coolest things
1) Super Sync - network syncing. Makes back to mac look like a cloud. tools for syncing iphone on multiple machines was in multiple products by multiple vendors.
2) Tune up – bad ass duplicate finder, manager and remover. Cleans up itunes!
3) xxxxxx - square space for web pages
4) xxxxxxxxx -
5 ) Lots of bags, cases and other soft hardware.
6) No Microsoft!
7) BAD things – no adboe, no apple, no lexmark, no epson, no canon.
HP was there with great printer lineup
9) Some people who were not into idevices were disappointed. All cool new stuff was in one hall.
10) Our friend Jim Lee of Tropical Software – Top Ten Notes was there but had no booth.
Chris will post more stuff below. He will defiantly go next year. Spent 3 hours on Dragon.
