Just updated to MarsEdit 3.3.4.  I paid http://www.red-sweater.com/marsedit/ $15 and used my old registration number from MarsEdit 1.0.

I have not done a comprehensive survey of all the blogging software out there, but MarsEdit has been very good to me over the years and its gotten better at a pretty good clip.  It is very full featured and easy to use.

Check it out…  well worth the money.

Chris Wesselman, my good friend at Stanford MIS went to MacWorld Expo at Mocone in San Francisco  yesterday.  This is what he told me:

1) They should rename it iWorld.  I disagree…  MacWorld expo  is a 28 year old brand.  iworld is something that is either inside macworld or separate trade show.  IMHO.

2) Jeff ganyard and Jeff Leman are now at Dragon after Macspeech acquired.  Talked to Jack Simonton and he is no longer at MacSpeech.

3) Our friend Tim Holms is doing well.

4) 266 vendors but much smaller than the MacWorlds of the 1990s

Top 5 coolest things

1) Super Sync - network syncing.  Makes back to mac look like a cloud.  tools for syncing iphone on multiple machines was in multiple products by multiple vendors.

2) Tune up – bad ass duplicate finder, manager and remover.  Cleans up itunes!

3) xxxxxx - square space for web pages

4) xxxxxxxxx -

5 ) Lots of bags, cases and other soft hardware.

6) No Microsoft!

7) BAD things – no adboe, no apple, no lexmark, no epson,  no canon.

8) HP was there with great printer lineup

9) Some people who were not into idevices were disappointed.  All cool new stuff was in one hall.

10) Our friend Jim Lee of Tropical Software – Top Ten Notes was there but had no booth.

Chris will post more stuff below.  He will defiantly go next year.  Spent 3 hours on Dragon.

New WebEdge Racing Blog

We have decided to make a new blog called WebEdgeRacing.com to continue the discussions and information about Formula One racing in Austin and Formula D Board game.

Please come take a look and join in the discussions.

Following F1 is fun.

I love following Formula One and I have been watching the races since I was a little boy.  One of the great things about the sport is learning enough about the drivers and teams to have some favorites.

Fernando Alonso is my favorite driver and I am really hoping that he wins the World Driving Championship (WDC) this year.  Currently he is 41 points out.  With the new point system that is less than 2 race wins and there are 6 races left in the season. F1fanatic.co.uk has a terrific article with quotes from Alonso about how he hopes the rest of the season goes.

I started being a fan of Fernando Alonso when he won the Hungarian Grand Prix in 2003.  At that time he was the youngest driver to ever win a Formula One Race.  His driving in 2005 and 2006, when he became the youngest person to win the World Driving championship was nothing short of spectacular.  He was so fast, so consistant and so focused that he was really fun to watch.

When he switched over to McLaren in 2007 he lost out on the championship by a single point.  That year was crazy as Lewis Hamilton, Alonso’s partner at McLaren, had the best rookie  season ever in F1 but blew a 18 point lead in the last 3 races.   Lots of bad blood and drama caused Fernando to only race for one year at McLaren.

After two lack luster years driving a slow car at Renault in 2008 and 2009, Fernando joined Ferrari at the begining of this year.  He won the first race of the year and has had some bad luck but is still in the hunt to win it all if the chips fall his way.

2) A major update to iTunes  and a new social media/music finding web service to compete with FaceBook called “Ping” .

3) Lots of revisions to the entire iPod line with the iPod Touch many features previously only available on the latest iPhone, such as FaceTime video chat.

4) A new gaming center called Project Sword

Blogging with Mars Edit

I just upgraded to MarsEdit and I have to say, this 3.0.5 version rocks.  I have used MarsEdit 1 and 2.  In fact, I still have to use 2.0 on my MacMini that is running the Leopard Xserver version of the MacOS.  But this version running on my powerbook under Snow Leopard (10.6.4) is terrific.  The folks at Red Sweater Software have really done a ton of work on this program in the last year or so.

MarsEdit 3 is very full featured and its much easier to use than any other blogging client that I have found.  You can download a demo that works great… and if your blogging from a mac then then you really owe it to yourself to check it out.

Please leave a comment if you have another blogging client that you enjoy using.

I love Formula one - Hungary GP was amazing today

Crazy Race.  Never seen that kind of stuff in the pits… Nico looses a wheel, then within seconds Kubica and Sutil come together in the pits…  then Vettle screws up behind the safety car… late in the race schumacher got a 10 grid spot penalty for almost pushing Barachello into a wall.

The great thing is that Alonso got 2nd.  I loved it when Alonso’s pits told him to “Push and be wise” towards the end of the race

Reminds me of an old record my dad had that I used to love:

“Prince Rainier and Princess Grace,

Had a box seat for the race,

With the judge’s tower standing just below!

Graham Hill slid through the shower,

Rammed the stairs right off the tower,

At the Eighteenth Grand Prix of Monaco!!!”

Formula One coming to Austin TX USA

I am a huge F1 fan. My favorite driver is Fernando Alonso and I love the whole Circus that is Formula One auto racing.

About 6 weeks ago the Governing body for F1, the FIA announced that there will be a US Grand Prix for the first time since the 2007 race at the Indianapolis Speedway in held the last of 6 races at that famed circuit.

Right now I am watching a pirate feed of the BBC pre-race show for the 2010 German Grand Prix at Hockenhiem race track in Germany. Fox wont be showing the race until 1pm so such measures are necessary to watch the race live.
I remember watching the Monico GP on ABC wide world of sports in the late 1960′s. My favorit driver back then was Mario Andretti and I got his autograph when my father took me to the Dan Gurney 200 a USAC race in Seatle.
